Video Shows Florida Man Swings Machete In ‘Road Rage’ Attack
After being caught on camera swinging a machete during what the police described as a “road rage” incident last week, a Florida man is now in jail. Luis Ruiz-Herrera, 61, was detained by the Miami Springs Police Department on Monday (October 2) for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in connection with the Florida road rage assault, according to NBC 6.
Here’s what went down:
According to the police, the incident took place on Friday, September 29 in the vicinity of Northwest 36th Street and Northwest 42nd Avenue. According to an arrest record, a man approached a person on a motor scooter after getting out of his car while brandishing a machete. The victim attempted to flee after getting off his scooter, but the machete-wielding man was able to swipe at him and strike him on the left side of the face, according to the police.
The stunning attack by Herrera on the scooter driver was captured on dashcam video as he dove to avoid a fatal blow.
Miami Springs Police Chief Armando Guzman told reporters that the scooter driver “did what I call his best ‘Matrix’ impersonation because he dodged back and he was just caught with the tip.” He said that the scooter driver wasn’t gravely harmed.
The intense argument, according to the police, was the result of “a road rage incident and was caught on video by a third-party motorist who was also in traffic, directly behind the scooter.” Investigators from Miami Springs Police confronted Herrera after identifying the culprit. The 61-year-old admitted what he had done.
Guzman remarked, “When you actually see it first-hand, it’s quite shocking.” When someone cuts me off, I personally just ignore it.
Because of the Florida road rage incident, he was given a $10,000 bond and told to avoid the victim, according to NBC 6. Click here for the full story.
