Dan And Shay Talk About Wild Years On The Road
Dan and Shay talk about wild years on the road they used to have. Some of those moments were with our very own J.R. Dan + Shay are bringing their Heartbreak on the Map Tour to Tampa this Friday August 23rd. They called into the show this morning to talk about coming to town.
First, we got into the conversation about the show coming up Friday. Shay asked how hot it was going to be and Launa replied miserable. The heat index has been in the hundreds and the humidity is thick, and along with the afternoon showers and storms, should make for a very nice sticky day in Tampa. But, none of that will even matter when the show starts.
We had to congratulate Shay on his recent announcement. He and his wife just announced they are pregnant with baby number 4. Launa joked that it sounds like they might need a “bigger house” now with an additional baby on the way.
When asked abut their favorite place to play, Dan shared a story with us about stopping in New York recently at Jones Beach and how much he really loves playing in that area. The two went paddle boarding earlier in the day on the river and he said he was just loving the beauty of the place.
Shay is one of the most talented singer in country today. No one, but Gary LaVox of Rascal Flatts can sing like Shay Mooney. We had to ask about protecting their vocals. How does Shay keep singing night after night on tour? What does he do to protect his vocal chords. Right away he answered with sleep. He joked that he gets more sleep on the road, then when he’s at home with 3 kids. He also said he doesn’t drink while touring. They did share some stories of how back in the day J.R. would party with Dan + Shay. They talked about wild times they would have going out with their wives. Now that they are married and have kids, those wild days are over. Times have changed for all.
Before we let them go, J.R. gave them big props on their first time coaching on The Voice. They both spoke about how much fun they had. Shay said that working alongside of Reba and John Legend was surreal. And of course being in the first double chair was cool too.
