New Brewery In Ybor City To Open
There is a new brewery in Ybor city that is set to open. And one thing about this brewery that is super cool, is that it used to be an old fire station. It’s called Sky Puppy Brewing. I heard about this new place and cannot wait to check it out. I was reading an article on Creative Loafing about it and checking out a ton of pictures. It looks like a cool place to check out next time you’re on the hunt for a new brewery.
The building is located at 1313 E 8th Ave, in Ybor City. It sits on the site of Casa Bomberos, where Tampa Fire Station No. 2 was until 1924, and it’s technically the city’s oldest fire house still standing. After the fire house, it was turned into New World Brewery which was there for 22 years. They relocated a few miles away to Sulfur Springs after the property was sold to a developer. Now it has just been transformed into Sky Puppy Brewing. Despite the name, it has nothing to do with dogs. Looking through the photos that have posted to their Instagram, it’s quite the opposite. Most breweries are dog friendly, however, it doesn’t say if Sky Puppy is.
Breweries are so popular in the Tampa Bay area. And now there is a new brewery in Ybor city. It seems everywhere you go, you will find another one down the road. A Brewery, often referred to as a brewpub, is a unique in it’s own way because it combines the functions of a pub or restaurant with a brewery. This means that the beer served in these establishments is brewed on-site, providing patrons with a unique experience of enjoying freshly brewed beer. There are breweries that do not brew their own beers and just serve others, but most in the Tampa Bay area brew their own.
