I recently had a chance to spend some time in Nashville for the Country Radio Seminar. CRS is an annual event where radio program directors and Music Directors from all over the country are invited to Nashville for 4 days to attend seminars, performances and check out not only new music but new artists as well. The big record labels get a chance to highlight their up and coming artists during this time. It's a great time to put the new music in front of radio programmers in hopes they will like what they hear and eventually add it to the radio playlist. There is a ton of new artists that we are introduced to every year, with so much talent, but I always walk away with a few artists that really stand out to me and this year it was Vincent Mason.
I have probably attended CRS about 7 times now. One of my favorite performances I look forward to each year is the UMG luncheon. Universal Music Group invites us into the Ryman Auditorium and picks a handful of the artists on their roster to play one song, acoustically for the radio audience. This year, there were performances by Dierks Bentley, Brothers Osborne, Jordan Davis, Tyler Hubbard, Brad Paisley and Eric Church. In between all of those, they sprinkled new artist like Crowe Boys, Carter Faith, Belle Frantz and Vincent Mason.
Check out my LaunaRadio for a quick short of the performances.
When Vincent Mason came out on stage, I knew right away it was going to be good. His name was really starting to get popular as well as his music. J.R. my co-host told me about him a few weeks prior and was encouraging me to check out his new song, "Wish You Well". That was the song he performed for us during the luncheon. Nashville artist Vincent Mason made a big impression on us.
Through out the rest of the week, many other radio industry people were talking about Vincent and how much they loved his music. I also go to see Vincent later that day perform at the famous Tootsies with Jon Pardi. The crowd was loving him.
We just found out recently that Vincent Mason will be in the Bay area. He is on the line up for the St. Pete Country Fest in November. There are a ton of new artists on that lineup that I saw in Nashville that week, so this is going to be a really good place to check out some of the new artists that are breaking in to the country format.
