Do You Have A Gold Star On Your Florida Drivers License?
Have you gotten the “new” Florida Drivers license yet? Well, you might need to if you plan on traveling in Fall 2020.
By October 2020 everyone wanting to travel via plane has to follow the REAL ID laws. It basically means you will need to have a gold star on the upper right-hand corner of your Florida driver’s license, if not, you will not be able to travel through airports. Florida began issuing REAL ID compliant credentials after January 1, 2010. TSA estimated nearly 80,000 people could be turned away from their flights on October 1, 2020. That’s A LOT of angry travelers at the airport…
Transportation Security Administration officials announced that beginning on October 1, 2020, every air traveler who is 18 years of age and older will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another acceptable form of ID to fly within the United States.
To get your ID updated you will need to bring ONE of the following primary documents to your local DMV:
(establish your identity, proof of legal residence and date of birth)
– Valid, unexpired U.S. passport
– Original or Certified copy of a birth certificate
– Consular Report of Birth Abroad
– Certificate of Naturalization issued by DHS
– Certificate of Citizenship
