Police Pose As Utility Workers To Catch People Texting And Driving
These cops are not joking around, they are even patrolling in disguise.
Our neighbor to the North got their police officers to do something very sneaky, three Georgia police officers posed as utility workers to catch drivers on their phones or not wearing a seat belt near a busy intersection.
Officials say Marietta and Cobb police wrote 141 tickets and made three arrests. Georgia state troopers wrote 29 tickets.
Watch out soon here in the Sunshine State… Florida passed a bill to prevent distracted driving and that is about to take affect on July 1st. Under current law, officers can only cite drivers for texting if they are pulled over for another violation. According to U.S. News, The new law allows officers to stop motorists simply for texting alone. A first offense will be punishable by a $30 fine, with a second costing $60. Court costs and fees also would apply, and points will be added to licenses.
