This Is Officially The Worst Seat At Tropicana Field
Are you surprised that there was a study done about the worst seats in Major League Baseball stadiums? We’re not shocked at all! Of course since we’re Tampa Bay Rays fans, we want to know the worst seat at Tropicana Field?
Bill Speros of Bookies.com came up with a fancy algorithm and scored all 30 stadiums seating arrangements on a 0-10 scale in six categories:
- View obstruction from seat
- Distance from home plate
- Plate/seat angle
- Exposure to sun, rain and weather elements
- Proximity to concessions and restrooms
- Overall comfort
The overall worst seat in baseball belongs to the Boston Red Sox. It is Section 1, Row 1, Seat 1 at Fenway Park. How bad is that seat? According to Speros: “That seat lies about 400 feet from home plate. A pole occupies the middle third of your field of vision and wipes out the entire infield – save for a sliver behind the shortstop – and right field. You need to turn your head about 110-degrees portside to see the centerfield scoreboard.” If you want that seat, it will cost you $32.
So what’s the worst seat at Tropicana Field? The worst seat at the home of the Tampa Bay Rays is Section 129, Row G, Seat 1 which is in the left field corner. What makes this the worst seat at The Trop? “They’re close, right on the field, but the problem is that angle,” Speros explained. “You’re facing right field, and you’re so low that your line of site is flat. So you can’t really get a good judge of the action. There is a real chance that someone in that little bar area in front of you is in your way. Then you have to look past the bullpen as well.” The seat will set you back only $30. You can get a pretty good simulation of the view at AViewFromMySeat.com.
