You Can Win Big Bucks If You Catch These Special Florida Fish
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is giving you a chance to win big bucks if you catch one of these special Florida fish!
The FWC is celebrating the 10th season of the Trophy Catch program by releasing 10 specially tagged bass in 10 different Florida lakes. If you catch one of these special pink-tagged bass, you’ll win a $5,000 gift card to Bass Pro Shops and $1,000 to shop at AFTCO. One lucky angler will have the chance to win $10,000 at a ceremony this fall.
One of the fish was already caught in Orange County’s Lake Griffin by Dale Dew.

Dale was quite surprised by the whole thing. “It was the first time we heard about it, and we were like, ‘Whoa what’s this? We aren’t going to catch it. We’re two guys who can’t fish!’” he said. “We don’t have all the nice equipment or a nice bass boat but we got lucky and caught it! So, it could be any ordinary person who catches it. You never know, it’s crazy.”
Here are the Florida lakes where the FWC have released these pink-tagged fish:
Newnans Lake
Lake George
Lake Talquin
Lake Walk-in-Water (Polk County)
Tenoroc Fish Management Area (Polk County)
Lake Trafford
Lake Istokpoga (Highlands County)
Lake Griffin – TAG CAPTURED!
Lake Rousseau
Johns Lake
As you can see, a few of the lakes are in the Tampa Bay area. You have until the end of September to catch one of these prize fish.
