Does Florida Need A New State Bird? One Person Thinks We Do
Does Florida need a new State bird? A Tampa Bay politician has started the process to change which new feathered friend will represent the Sunshine State.
In case you were wondering, the state bird of Florida is the mockingbird. It’s also the state bird of Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas. Florida State Senator Jeff Brandes thinks it’s time that the Sunshine State had a different bird represent us.
Join the movement to select a new state bird of #Florida. Vote for a bird to replace the current state bird (the northern mockingbird) with something that makes you immediately think Florida. Cast your vote here or reply with you favorite https://t.co/kviaF6U3cR

Sen. Brandes has even filed a proposal (SCR 324) for the 2022 legislative session that would remove the mockingbird, a position it has held since 1927. His proposal doesn’t specify which bird would replace the mockingbird.
What bird do you think better represents Florida…or is this topic ruffling feathers?
