- A gateway plant that is pretty strong (i.e. hard to kill) is the ZZ plant. It needs very little light and water to maintain its strong green leafy presence.

4. If all else fails, you can also try some lucky bamboo. Bamboo probably ranks #1 on the nearly impossible to kill list.
