Video Of Florida Biologist Struck By Lightning While Filming YouTube Video
A disturbing incident involving a Florida biologist who was shooting a product evaluation is captured in a viral video. A wildlife researcher with nearly 280,000 YouTube subscribers, Forrest Galante, is captured on camera standing in thigh-high water in Everglades City just before a lightning strike strikes next to him. Florida biologist struck by lightning? Yep.
“We’re getting some great shots. Beautiful day. Water’s clear. Things are going great,” he said in a YouTube video. “Towards the end of the day, we come up on the last thing we need to do, and the rain starts to roll in.”
Galante claimed to have heard thunder but dismissed it because stormy weather is common in Florida. The lightning strike and audible clap of thunder occurred as they were filming in an isolated swamp for their final round of the day. The entire team, including Galante, flees from the situation.
He said, “I got hit,” in the video. “I sensed it. Yes, I got hit. That hurt.”
The YouTuber claimed that because he was facing the camera, he was unable to see the illumination, but he did recall becoming immobilized quickly after the violent blow.
“Through that superconductive water, [the lightning] has just gone shooting up my legs into my chest, into my heart, and into my mouth, actually,” Galante said. “The whole thing is pretty crazy.”
Galante later claimed that neither he nor his group had sustained any significant wounds as a result of the incident. The biologist claims to have felt sore and is still left with a bitter taste in his mouth. They didn’t go to the doctor, and any symptoms they had were already going away.
This Florida biologist struck by lightning, isn’t the first time. But maybe the first on video of the exact moment.
