Good news, as the FDA has approved it’s first FLU treatment in twenty years!
Clinical trials with 1,832 patients proved the safety and efficacy of Xofluza when taken within 48 hours of experiencing flu symptoms, according to an FDA statement.
It’s a single pill, that if taken within 48 hours of onset, can reduce symptoms to patients 12 and older once they’ve been diagnosed with the illness, according to the FDA.
Researchers believe the medication will prevent patients from spreading the flu, which could help reduce the contagion rates following the 2017-2018 flu season, which saw 900,000 hospitalizations and 80,000 deaths.
The FDA still recommends the seasonal Flu shot, as the best way to combat The Flu virus.
