Florida’s Teacher Of The Year Is From Springhill
Florida’s Teacher Of The Year is from Springhill. Congrats to Jamie Suarez, a mathematics teacher at Challenger K-8 School of Science and Mathematics in Hernando County, she has just been named the 2025 Florida’s Teacher of the year.
The Florida Teacher of the Year program celebrates and elevates the education profession and recognizes outstanding educators in the state and their achievements. Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr. made the announcement this week. Diaz, Jr. said: “It is because of inspirational and dedicated educators like Jaime that Florida’s students continue to exceed expectations and raise the bar for education. I look forward to seeing the impact that she will make on educators across the state over the next year.”
According to the Florida Department of Education, Jaime Suarez teaches math to students in grades 6-8 at the Challenger K-8 School of Science and Mathematics. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Troy University. Not only is Ms. Suarez an outstanding teacher, she is also a team leader and serves on the district’s science textbook selection committee.
Jamie not only wins the title, but she gets a nice big ole fat check. She will receive a $50,000 award from the state of Florida, thanks to Gov. Ron DeSantis. She will also serve as the Christa McAuliffe Ambassador for Education for one year, advocating for students and representing Florida’s teaching community. All five finalists receive money. They each receive a $20,000 bonus.
We are so excited for Jamie and thank her for her ongoing work in our Florida school system. Being a teacher is a tough job and we love that she has been recognized.
