University Of Tennessee Asking For Donations For Goalposts
University of Tennessee asking for donations for goalposts.
The Tennessee Football committee is asking for donations to help replace the ones that were tore down by fans after the big win last weekend against Alabama.
First of all, it was the first time the Volunteers beat Alabama in 15 years. The celebration took to the field as thousands of fan rushed the field and ripped down the goal posts.. Fans carried them to the Tennessee river and dumped them there. Now they need new ones. The cost is about $10,000 – $20,000 each.
The University of Tennessee called on the student body, alumni and other fans to contribute in getting new goalposts for Neyland Stadium after fans tossed the old ones into the Tennessee River. The university also faces additional costs to fix the field after the turf took a beating with all the fans on the field.
Tennessee had lost 15 straight times to Alabama and hadn’t beat them since 2006. So now, the University of Tennessee is asking for donations for goalposts.
Most find this interesting when the school brings in so much money.
Y'all remember how we tore the goalposts down, hauled em out of Neyland and dumped em in the Tennessee River?

Yeah that was awesome.
Anywho, turns out that in order to play next week's game, we need goalposts on our field. Could y'all help us out? 🙏 https://t.co/NSMoL3SzPX
How Much Money Does UT College Football Make
In 2021, the UT athletics department generated $133 million in revenue, with football accounting for $62.4 million, according to financial data the university submitted to the NCAA. And you need help paying for goalposts? Interesting.
The Call For Donations Is Working
A private foundation at UT created a web page where anyone can give, with some 2,100 people having donated so far. As of Tuesday, the Tennessee Volunteers had raised roughly $150,000. That is plenty for the goalposts. It seems many are donating to the cause.
