Giant Hooters Coming To Tampa
A brand new giant Hooters coming to Tampa next summer. This is awesome news. If you love spending time at Hooters, you’ve got to check out the new location that is coming to Wesley Chapel this summer.
Hooters has been around for 41 years. The very first Hooters opened in Clearwater, FL on Gulf Blvd in 1983. Just a few months ago, we were reading that some of the stores were closing. I was surprised to hear that they are actually opening up not just a new Hooters in Wesley Chapel, but a few more all over Florida.
The new Hooters is going to be giant. They signed a lease for a 4,500-square-foot property at 25245 Wesley Chapel Boulevard, which is right next to the Harley-Davidson dealership. The new location will have both indoor seating and an outdoor patio and will bring about 60 new jobs to the area. They are planning to open in the summer of 2025.
Hooters is also planning to open a location in The Villages’ Lake Deaton Plaza in early 2025 and possibly more sites in Pasco, Pinellas, and Hillsborough counties. So, I guess they are doing better then we thought?
True story about how Hooters started. Couple of guys got together to open a bar they couldn’t get kicked out of. More than three decades later, the Hooters brand has grown into an international sensation, with more than 420 Hooters in 29 countries.
I worked at the Hillsborough location for a couple of years while I was establishing myself in the Tampa Bay radio scene. I loved working at Hooters. I waited on a ton of celebrities and sports figures. The girls and the management were amazing and we had a ton of fun. After 26 years, I remain super close with a bunch of the girls that I worked with. I think if you look around the restaurant, there are a few pictures still left on the wall with my picture. I haven’t been back in years, so I’m not 100% sure if they are still on the walls today.
