It’s almost here! Kenny Chesney hits Raymond James Stadium on April 20th this year. If you’ve never been to a Kenny Chesney show, tailgating is just as important as the show itself. Many people come for the tailgating and don’t even make it into the show. His No Shoes Nation Fans get there early and make an entire day of the tailgate. Here are some helpful Kenny Chesney tailgating tips!
Here are some really helpful Kenny Chesney tailgating tips. I have been to over 10 Kenny shows over the past 15 years and his fans go all out. I’ve seen some really good ideas from professional tailgaters in the past that I thought would be smart as we get ready for another big night here in Tampa!

Parking/Tailgate Area
The first thing you need to do is secure parking right away. Parking will be open at 10am Saturday. You want a good place to tailgate for the show. Don’t wait until day of. You’re probably going to be going with a group of friends, it’s a good idea to all buy parking in the same Lot so you’re not spread out. You can purchase a parking pass HERE
Parking can also be found in the surrounding neighborhoods and businesses. Many charge to park in their front lawns. You will need cash. Most front yards can be anywhere between $20 – $60 during a Bucs game so expect to pay more than that for the concert. I paid $50 to park in a yard for Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen. Apps you can download are parkjockey.com and SpotHero and you can buy parking through seatkgeek.com
Ride Share Information
If you choose to use Uber or Lyft the drop off site and pickup zone is at Steinbrenner Field, across Dale Mabry. Best to use the pedestrian bridge to get to the stadium. Keep in mind, there will be surge charges during this show.
HART bus routes will also serve the stadium. Routes 7, 15, 32, 36 and 45). The bus stops are located on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and Himes Aves. It’s about a 15 minute walk to stadium.
Bag Policy
Raymond James Stadium has a no bag policy. You can only bring in one clutch purse no larger then 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches. If you forget to leave your bag behind, you can store in a locker you will need to rent near gate C.
Traffic/Road Closures
Heavy traffic will be on Dale Mabry, Himes, Columbus Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. No information has been given at this time about which roads will be closed but you can check FL511 for updated road closures closer to the show. Most of the time, they close the lanes heading south out of Ray Jay, so you must turn right and navigate your way south.
More Helpful Kenny Chesney Tailgating Tips
- Pack a water bottle and snacks in your car after the show.
- Bring a portable charger, especially if you record a lot.
- Don’t bring signs or wear outfits that have battery powered lights. This is against Raymond James Stadium policy.
- No signs larger than 11” x 17″
- Take a picture of where you parked, or ask Siri to drop a pin.
One thing I saw when I was out there last year was a portable pop up toilet tent. The lines for the port-a-potty were extremely long. I noticed that some people had these tents set up next to their tailgating areas and figured out they were bathrooms. What a great idea.
What Songs Will Be On The Setlist?
