Here is some information on what to know about the Saharah Dust heading to Tampa. Looks like we may get some of the Sahara dust we keep seeing on the news this week. I wasn't really sure what this was going to mean so I did some digging and kinda laying it out for you.

A massive dust cloud kinda sounds scary, but it's not what it sounds like. We aren't going to be wiping our eyes and covering our mouths like we are walking through a dust storm you see in the movies. This is much different. According to what I've been seeing is that this dust won't even feel like dust at all.

Basically, a giant plume of Sahara Desert dust is making it's way across the Atlantic and it is forcasted to hit Florida and the Tampa Bay area this week. We will start feeling the Saharah dust heading to Tampa on Friday. It's coming from Africa, where it's riding on a large air current that is moving across the region. You may not know this, but it's something that happens all the time, and we don't even know it. This dust forms over the Sahara Desert around late spring and early fall, but this is the peak time. The dust sits about a mile above the Earths surface and it's about 2.5 miles thick in the atmosphere.

By the time the Saharah Dust heading to Tampa gets here Friday, it will have already decreased in concentration. It can sometimes suppress tropical development, but right now that isn't a factor.

We won't see any dust on cars or feel it in the air. This is very mild and nothing to worry about. It just sounds kinda scary when you see Sahara Dust coming to Tampa.

How To Know When The Dust Arrives

When the sky is hazier and the sunsets are enhanced with more of a yellow color are two signs. So, you really don't need to worry about this dust.
