Dan + Shay coming to Tampa to do a show for us this year.  The boys are heading out on The Heartbreak On The Map Tour and have just added a ton of dates.  One of those dates includes a stop at the Mid-Florida Credit Union Amphitheater in August.

When we spoke to Dan + Shay a few weeks ago and they hinted that they would be adding more dates to their tour.   Since Dan’s parents live near Tampa, we kinda gave him a little crap that he wasn’t doing a show here yet.  His reply…”wink wink”.

Ticket Information

Details just came out and the show is happening August 23rd.  Jake Owen and Dylan Marlowe will be opening for them here.

Presale tickets will start today (Wednesday), if you are a Club QYK member, check your email because we sent you the code.  Otherwise you can buy them on Friday starting at 10am.

Next week we will be giving tickets away for free at 8:20am.

If you have never seen the boys on the big stage, it’s a show to get to this year.  So many great songs from Dan + Shay.  There is nothing better then hearing Shay Mooney’s voice during Speechless or 10,000 hours, Tequila or any of of their songs.  His voice is just that amazing.

Bigger Houses

The boys just got done celebrating their 10th number one song with “Save Me The Trouble“, off the Bigger Houses album.  This album came at a time when the boys were just getting back to being a duo.  They had spent a long time apart and both of them admit they didn’t know what the future of Dan + Shay was going to be.  After a night of “talking” they did what they do best.  They wrote music together and that is where the album Bigger Houses came from.

In our interview a few weeks ago, Shay said Bigger Houses represents exactly where we are in their lives right now.  He said happiness is all about being surrounded by people you love.  One of the things they keep learning more and more everyday.  The two are very grateful for each other, their families, and for their fans.

The month of May is the most popular month to get married, as 11 percent of all couples marry in May. As we welcome the summer and the beautiful weather that comes with May, we gathered what we believe are the top five country music songs for weddings.

There were so many country love songs to choose from as every artist in country music has their fair share of love songs. But these five songs rise above the rest in helping couples share their love on their special days.

  • 5 - "It's Your Love" - (1997)

    Tim McGraw and Faith Hill – Such a beautiful love song that stands the test of time, just like Tim and Faith’s marriage. “It’s Your Love” became the first duet by a married couple to top the country chart since the inception of Nielsen BDS in 1990. No such single would top the chart again until almost 26 years later, when Kane Brown and Katelyn Brown’s “Thank God” hit #1 in February 2023.

  • 4 - "From This Moment On" - (1997) - Shania Twain

    What a fantastic love song. Twain always sings this at her concerts. Shania wrote the song when she “drifted off” when she attended a soccer game in Italy that she was not interested in.

  • 3 - "Speechless" - (2018) Dan + Shay

    This song is written primarily for weddings. The video features footage from Smyers’ and Mooney’s 2017 weddings, including the grooms’ first looks at their brides, the brides walking down the aisle, and the couples’ introductions at their respective receptions.

  • 2 - "Die A Happy Man" - (2015)

    This song is an amazing love letter to Thomas’ wife, Lauren, who appears in the video. The video was shot on location on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii.

  • 1 - "Forever After All" - (2020)

    While there are many country music songs for a wedding, this one is a no-brainer. The song’s official video features clips from Luke’s August 2020 wedding to Nicole Hocking.

Launa is part of Tampa Bay's Hometown Morning Krewe on 99.5 WQYK. She has been with the station for 7 years and joined J.R. and Kevin on the morning show 4 years ago. Since then, they have been nominated for not only a CMA but also an ACM. Launa has been in radio for the past 28 years and in the Tampa Bay market for 22 of those years. While working in radio, Launa has also served as an entertainment reporter on a local TV show and has hosted many charity events in the community. Using her popularity from QYK, Launa loves to help raise money for shelter animals and has been a volunteer at local shelters for years. Launa loves the community and writes articles on local news, entertainment, and events and highlights people who are shining in Tampa Bay that she knows others like her would also be interested in reading.
