Dan + Shay Being Sued By A 70’s Band
Dan + Shay are being sued by a 70’s band because they say that Dan + Shay’s song “10,000 Hours” with Justin Bieber lifted a significant portion of the structure and melody of a song they wrote.
The song in question is a song by Asia Luckey titled “First Time Baby Is a Holiday,” which Palmer Rakes and Frank Fioravanti co-wrote in 1973.
The suit says “Defendants copied, in minute detail, the most important, core portion of plaintiff’s song, which includes the chorus, verse and hook. The similarities are so striking that ‘10,000 Hours’ simply cannot have been independently created.”
