Abandoned Hurricane Milton Dog Adopted
Remember the Hurricane Milton dog that was abandoned and tied to a fence along I-75 that was found by a Florida Highway trooper? Well, he has been adopted. The Hurricane Milton dog is named Trooper. He was named after the trooper who found him.
Who Adopted The Hurricane Milton Dog
The Florida Highway Patrol trooper noticed the dog that had been abandoned and tied up along I-75. This all happened as many people in Florida evacuated because Milton was headed to Florida. The Leon County Humane Society took Trooper in and when they put him up for adoption there was a couple in Parkland, Florida that wanted him. Frank and Carla Spina wrote a letter to the shelter and while the shelter had a few concerns the Spina’s adopted Trooper.
Trooper Bonded Quickly With His New Owners
One of the reasons the shelter was hesitant was the person that left Trooper on the side of the road was male. Trooper hadn’t been responding well to males while at the shelter. Frank told FOX 13, “I said, ‘listen, we’re not going to have any trouble me and him. We’re going to be best buddies.’ I said, ‘if we come get them on Friday, on Sunday, we’ll be sitting on the couch watching television.’ And they were like, ‘No way’.” Frank added, “She said ‘just sit there and see if he comes over to you.’ And I sat down, and he came under my legs, just like he does now. And he laid down, and I was scratching him and his leg was moving. And she said, ‘it’s a match made in heaven.’ And Lisa said, ‘You’ve cast a spell over him’.”
I love that this story has a happy ending and that Trooper is at his fur-ever home. He is only 3-years-old and has many years of playing ahead.
