Veteran Finds Out Watch Is Worth Almost $1 Million
A guest on PBS’s Antiques Roadshow was literally floored when he found out how much his old wristwatch is worth. The North Dakota man, known only as David, bought the Rolex in the ’70s for $345 while he was station in Thailand with the Air Force. When he returned home, he put the watch in a safe deposit box and kept it there for 40 years. Appraiser Peter Planes informed him that the watch today is worth between $500,000 and $700,000, which caused David to topple over in disbelief.
