These Nissan Cars Being Recalled
There are some Nissan cars being recalled, and this is due to airbags that can explode. Almost 84,000 vehicles have been recalled due to this airbag. The cars are older Nissan’s. The Nissan cars being recalled are model years 2002 – 2006. The cars that are included in the recall are the 2002 – 2006 Nissan Sentra, the 2002 – 2004 Nissan Pathfinder and the 2002 – 2003 Infinity QX4s. Nissan also makes Inifinity vehicles.
Takata makes the airbag and they were already subject to a recall back in 2020. So, here is what could happen to these airbags if the recall is not taken seriously. The frontal passenger airbag inflators may explode due to “propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.” That is what the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in the recall notes.
What To Do With These Nissan Cars Being Recalled
So you have one of these cars you can get a free repair at your local dealership in the Tampa Bay area. Nissan and Infinity are going one step further and offering free towing, mobile repair and loaner vehicles so you do not drive in these recalled vehicles.
Recalls happen all the time with pretty much every single motor vehicle company. It is a free repair if you take it to a local dealership. Sometimes they are minor, but then sometimes they are major like the case with the airbags for Nissan and Infinity.
Not The First Time This Airbag Company Has Had Problems
Takata airbags have had a history of problems. Around 67 million airbags from the company have been recalled. The recall is due to exposure over time to heat and humidity that could cause metal parts to shoot out when it is activated. 27 people have been killed and 400 people have been injured by a defective airbag from the company.
