Teachers want to move to Florida. This comes from a new study about trying to solve teaching shortages. The study comes from study.com where they surveyed over 800 teachers. They asked questions about how they feel about teacher burnout and solving shortages.
89% of teachers admitted to experiencing burnout. 26% of those people said they plan on leaving being a teacher because of burnout. Florida comes in the top five of states teachers want to move to. Florida as actually #5. California is the #1 state teachers want to move to. So why is Florida a state teachers want to move to? The number one factor is salary. Secondly, cost-of-living is a huge factor. Finally, job security is also a big factor. There’s also family considerations, state policies on education and areas facing teacher shortages.
Study.com says, “Like many other industries in America, education is facing a shortage. Teacher burnout is a large contributing factor, leaving schools in some areas of the country in need of educators. Licensing is a major barrier that makes it difficult for qualified educators to move freely between states and relocate to the neediest areas. A lack of mobility also makes it hard for teachers to leverage opportunities and improve their work-life–leaving them feeling stuck, unhappy, and burned out.”
