So what can you expect for 4th of July travel this year? So according to AAA, many people will be traveling for this Fourth of July. July 4th falls on a Thursday this year, which makes it a four-day weekend. So a lot of people will be taking advantage of this long holiday weekend. AAA expects a record number of people traveling this year.
They are projecting that 60.6 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more for their 4th of July travel. Now that’s just people getting in their cars and traveling. it will be busy for the people traveling by airplane as well. AAA expects 5.74 million people to be flying to their destination this year. Finally around 4.6 million. People are expected to travel, including buses, cruises, and trains.
The most popular places that people are going for this Fourth of July holiday are Seattle, Orlando, Anchorage, Honolulu, and Miami. So two Florida cities in the top five I guess there will be a lot of extra traffic on the Florida roads this year.
Worst Time For 4th Of July Travel
The worst times to drive will be July 3rd and 4th between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m
“Drivers in large metro areas can expect the worst traffic delays on Wednesday, July 3rd, as they leave town, and Sunday, July 7th, as they return,” said Bob Pishue, transportation analyst at INRIX. “Road trips over the holiday week could take up to 67% longer than normal. Travelers should monitor 511 services, local news stations, and traffic apps for up-to-the-minute road conditions.”
The best time to come home from the holiday will be to leave before 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 7th and after 7 p.m. July 8th. Be careful out there on the roads and I hope you have a great 4th of July.
