Top Florida Cities People Are Moving To
There are a lot of Florida cities that people are moving to. There are also cities in Florida where people are moving out. The moving and storage company PODS put out a list of the cities where people are moving in and moving out of. Three Florida cities have the highest number of move-ins. Ocala is second on the list only behind Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Jacksonville comes in #9 on the list and Orlando is #18.
Florida was the most popular state for move-ins in 2023 with six Florida cities in the top 20. This year there are only three. Tampa Bay and Sarasota didn’t even make the top 20, but we’re in the top 10 in 2023. Florida is now tied for third overall as a state on the list.

Now there is a Florida city where people are moving out of. There are more Florida cities where people are moving into than out of. The Miami area comes in third overall on the list of cities in the United States where people are moving out of. Miami is only behind Los Angeles and San Francisco.
How PODS Comes Up The List
The way PODS comes up with this list as they look at information from their moving data. The areas where people are moving to the most are North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. They say North Carolina or South Carolina is the best state to live in in 2024. Another reason Florida fell down the rankings this year is severe weather. Additionally, Florida homeowners insurance premiums have increased in the past few years.
Which Florida Cities Made The List For Best Places To Live In The U.S.
#1. Naples
We already told you that Naples was the named the #1 city to live in the U.S., even if most of its residents only live there during the winter months.
#11. Sarasota
Sarasota has a unique charm compared to its other coastal cities. It has a very vibrant art scene, beautiful beaches, great food and restaurants. Sarasota was also considered a “retirement community” but that is changing as more young professionals make it their own up-and-coming city.
#31. Pensacola
White sand beaches is the main reason why Pensacola is so desirable. U.S. News and World Report says “Year round, the city’s vibrant nightlife is balanced by an abundance of family-friendly activities and a community atmosphere.”
#35. Tampa
Finally Tampa made the list! We’re used to seeing Tampa higher up in these rankings, and definitely thought it would be higher based on all the people moving here just in the past year alone. The cost of living in Tampa is slightly higher than the national average, and the housing market has become so competitive in recent years. But out of all the cities in Florida, we’re happy to call Tampa home.

#37. Fort Myers
Situated between Tampa and Miami on Florida’s Gulf Coast, Fort Myers is a growing city. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast who loves humidity, Fort Myers is the place for you. The have miles of freshwater and saltwater channels for boating and fishing; trails for biking, hiking and paddling; and golf courses, tennis courts, swimming pools and shuffleboard courts.
