Gateway Expressway Tolls Start Today: Here’s What It Will Cost
The Gateway Expressway tolls start up today after being free for a week. The Gateway Expressway opened last week after being under construction since 2017. The Expressway provides direct connections between US 19 and I-275. Additionally, it connects the Bayside Bridge north of 49th St. north and I-275 in Pinellas County.
How Much The Gateway Expressway Tolls Are
Firstly, if you are traveling from US-19 to I-275 that ride will cost you $0.86. Secondly, if you take the road that connects the Bayside Bridge to I-275 then that will cost you $0.28. Finally, if you take the Roosevelt Airport Bypass then that will cost you $0.28. If you drive the I-275 Express Lanes without an active SunPass then you are subject to $25 daily violation charge. Cash or TOLL-BY-PLATE payment systems will not be accepted in tolled Express Lanes. Check out the map below to see how much the Gateway Expressway tolls cost.
Other Improvements Around The New Gateway Expressway

- Rebuilding existing Roosevelt Boulevard from the Bayside Bridge to Ulmerton Road as generally two one-way surface roads including a new access configuration and roads for the St. Pete-Clearwater International (PIE) Airport terminal.
- Repaving 118th Avenue North from US 19 to 31st Court North.
- Repairing or rebuilding sections of existing US 19 and 118th Avenue North including new ramps and bridges.
- Repaving the eastbound off-ramp from SR 690 to southbound I-275.
