3 Tampa Bay Restaurants Named In The Top 100 In America
There are three Tampa Bay restaurants that have been named as some of the top 100 in America. This actually comes from Yelp, which looks at everything from fine dining to food trucks for this list. The way they come up with the list is they actually crowd source review sites. They also look at data from ratings on the platform. Three Tampa Bay restaurants said have been named as some of the best in America. Firstly, Mio’s Grill and Café located in St. Petersburg made the list. Secondly, Bayshore Mediterranean Grill in Tampa is also on the list. Finally, Shaker & Peel in Oldsmar is in the top 100. Mio’s comes in #12 on the list, Bayshore Mediterranean Grill is #75 and Shaker & Peel is #80.
Florida Is Well Represented On The List
There are many Florida restaurants on the list and the top one is in Coral Gables and it is called Fratellino and it comes in #5 in the United States. Mio’s actually made the list in 2022 at #14. The restaurant is located on 2nd St. north in Saint Pete and they opened a second location on Gulf Boulevard. Yelp tells us what are their most popular dishes. They say, “Greek Salad, Falafel Wrap (crushed falafel with house sauce, inside a toasted tortilla), Turkish Pistachio Baklava, Chicken Gyro Salad, and Spinach Feta Borek (crispy pastry stuffed with fresh spinach and feta cheese, served with house tzatziki).”
Bayshore Mediterranean Grill makes their food fresh daily, and by the hands of their Turkish chefs. Shaker & Peel are known for their tacos, including a shrimp taco and a cheeseburger taco as well. They also are known for their great drinks and their unique menu items.
Unfortunately, for me, I’ve actually never been to any of these restaurants, but because of this list definitely something I’m gonna have to try out. I do love a good taco, so shaker and peel will definitely have to be on the list of restaurants to try in the future. I love that Tampa Bay is being recognized by yelp , and hopefully next year more Tampa Bay restaurants will make the list.
Finally, the #1 overall restaurant in America is Tumerico in Tucson, Arizona.
7 Best Barbecue Spots in Tampa Bay
Florida has been making a name for itself in the BBQ world over the past few years. We asked you on social media where to find the best barbecue in Tampa Bay and you didn’t disappoint. We put together a list of the 7 Best Barbecue Spots in Tampa Bay.
Earlier this year, Southern Living Magazine named Tropical Smokehouse in West Palm Beach the 8th best BBQ spot in the country. Then, Taste of Home named Shiver’s Bar-B-Q in Homestead, FL, as the best barbecue in Florida. Both of those options are different types of BBQ, so that comes down to personal preference.
Do different states have different styles of BBQ?
The short answer is yes, and they’re all much different from the next. BBQ isn’t a one size fits all type of cooking and in fact, the wood used to cook the various meats really decides the kind of flavor you’re getting. The big four in BBQ are Kansas City, Texas, Memphis, and Carolina Style BBQ.
In Texas, you have the sweet and hot flavor blasted brisket. In Carolina, pulled pork is the go-to. In Memphis, they love their smoked meat and hardwood charcoal. Finally, Kansas City has grown to perfect all kinds of BBQ.
In Florida, you’ll see a variety of types of BBQ. We’re known for doing things differently down here and that’s why some of the barbecue you see here, you won’t see anywhere else. There’s tons of different kinds of barbecue in the state of Florida from food trucks, trailers, and full fledged restaurants. Tropical Smokehouse in West Palm Beach offers gator meat … if that scream FLORIDA, we’re not sure what does.
