Tampa Riverwalk Up For Award: Here’s Why

The Tampa Riverwalk is up for an award and you can help them win it. Firstly, the Tampa Riverwalk, which is in downtown Tampa, has been nominated for the best holiday lights display. Secondly, the nomination comes from USA today’s 10 Best Readers Choice Awards. Finally, you can vote until Wednesday, November 29 at noon. The winners will be announced on Friday, December 8. It is a great honor for the Tampa Riverwalk as they one of the 20 public holiday lights displays to be nominated for this award.

USA Today does the 10 Best awards for many different things all throughout the year. The Tampa Bay area has been well represented on these awards.  Here is what they say about the Tampa Riverwalk., "Tampa Riverwalk is home to the magical Holiday Spectacular, which kicks off with the lighting of a 35-foot-tall Christmas tree floating in the harbor. The Riverwalk becomes aglow with festive lights and decorations, and the entire area of Water Works Park sees strings of lights draped on the oak trees, along with unique floating displays like gingerbread houses or toy trains set in the adjacent river. You can jump on a Pirate Water Taxi for the best views."

The Tampa Riverwalk is a 2.6 mile walk that goes along the Hillsborough river to the Garrison Channel. You can start start at the Heights Market at Armature Works and you go along Curtis Hixon Park until you get to Sparkman Wharf. It isn’t just a walk. You can also ride your bike or take a scooter down the Riverwalk. There are bars and restaurants along the Riverwalk. Things that you will see along the walk include the Florida Aquarium, Julian B. Lane Waterfront Park and the Tampa Bay History Center.
