Florida Ranks Among Best Tipping States
Florida ranks among the best tipping states in the United States. A new study found that 60% of Americans say they tip more than ever before. Firstly, USA TODAY Blueprint did the study. Secondly, they asked 5,000 Americans, 100 from each state, about their tipping tendencies at restaurants, for food delivery, personal care and services. Finally the study found that the average tip percentage in the U.S. is 17.94%.
Florida ranks among the best tipping states and comes in at #3 overall. The people of Florida tip and average of 21.68%. Only California and Missouri are higher. People in California tip an average of 22.69% and Missouri tips 22.05%.
The study says, “We’ve gathered data from all 50 states to investigate how tipping varies. Generally speaking, the best tippers tend to be located on either the west or east coasts, while those in the middle of the country tend to tip less.”

Finally, the worst tipping states in America is Illinois. The people of Illinois only tip an average of 14.22%.
Are People Tipping More Than Ever Before?
The study also found that income level is very important to how much people tip. People making less than $30,000 a year only tip on average of 15.04%. Additionally, people making over $120,000 a year tip and average of 20.66%. Millennials are the most generous tippers as they tip an average of 18.18%. Generation Z, Generation X and Baby Boomers all tip around 17.75%. The study also found that people are tipping a little bit more than they ever have before. About 50% said they tip a little more or a lot more. Only 7% say they tip a little bit less.
