Our Mutt Monday dog this week is Lena. Lena is looking for her fur-ever home. How can anyone resist this face? Lena is a master at the puppy dog look, and is happy to use it to get scratches, treats and belly rubs! She is a one year old, 12 pound shih tzu.
Every Monday we highlight a dog that is available for adoption at Pet Pal Animal Shelter. Lucky is our Mutt Monday dog this week and he is available at Pet Pal Animal Shelter in St. Pete. Pet Pal’s Mission Statement is, “Our mission is to rescue dogs and cats from shelters that may otherwise be euthanized due to time limitations, illness, injuries or lack of socialization and training. We are dedicated to educating the public about the pet overpopulation crisis, the importance of spaying/neutering and responsible pet ownership.”
Finally, Pet Pal is open from Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. Pet Pal is located at 405 22nd Street South in St. Pete. They also have a thrift store that supports the efforts of the shelter.

Apart from our gorgeous beaches, Florida is home to some of the biggest attractions in the country. Because of the popularity and demand to see these destinations, it can be pretty expensive to visit. It’s up to your own personal preference if these experiences are worth it to you. There are plenty of ways to enjoy some of Florida’s best attractions on a budget. These experiences could be even better than what is normally recommended and may be less crowded.
How did USA Today make their list?
In July 2023, USA Today analyzed 23.2 million Google reviews of the 500 most popular tourist attractions in the WORLD. For each attraction, they focused on how frequently the reviews mention the terms “tourist trap,” “overrated” or “expensive”. Tourist Traps in Florida
Florida natives will tell you that the big theme parks, Disney, Universal, and SeaWorld are all the #1 culprits for tourist traps. While you may be spending a lot of money to attend, many families or thrill seekers find it worth it to visit at least once. USA Today actually lists the Everglades Alligator Farm (#30 on USA Today’s list) and the Kennedy Space Center (#81 on the list) as the top tourist traps in Florida.
