Video Shows Pinellas Deputy Jumping Onto Unmanned Boat
There is a video of a Pinellas County deputy jumping onto an unmanned boat. This happened last month and was less than a mile from the St. Pete Pier. The runaway boat happened after the captain fell off the boat and didn’t have his kill switch attached to his wrist. The captain was rescued, but the boat kept going. The Coast Guard attempted to stop the boat, but were unsuccessful.
Deputy Travis Fernandes and Deputy Jillian Constant got the call about the boat and that’s when Deputy Fernandes literally jumped into action. The deputies matched the speed of the unmanned boat, pulled up right beside it and jumped into the boat. Deputy Fernandes said, “We drive boats 10 hours a day, four times a week. We train for this stuff. We train for all sorts of incidents, so it’s not okay for someone to try to do this on their own. Plus, our vessel’s a little different too, you know, we got the foam on the sides really helps.”

Trying to rent an affordable apartment or home in the Tampa Bay area can be rough, especially if you’re on a budget. It’s no secret that the cost of living in Tampa Bay has skyrocketed over the past few years. Thankfully, we found this list from Zumper.com of the most affordable places to rent in the Tampa Bay area. Note these are for 1 bedroom apartments. Don’t expect these prices to stay “affordable” for long. Zumper predicts that these rental prices will increase 27.6% increase year-over-year.
Why move to Florida?
You may be asking, if it’s so expensive, why would someone even move to Florida? Well the year-round sunshine sure does beat shoveling snow for 6 months of the year. Plus you never really get tired of all the water activities like snorkeling, jet skiing, or just tanning in the hot sun at our gorgeous beaches.
