St. Petersburg and Tampa Among Top 10 Cities for Short-Term Rentals
St. Petersburg and Tampa among Top 10 Cities for Short-Term rentals. How many Airbnb’s do you have in your neighborhood. I think now my subdivision has about 7. No kidding. We do not live “on the beach” but just “close enough” – and it’s driving some of our neighbors crazy. Lots of noise, all night parties, dozens of cars, and they drive through the neighborhood like it’s a race track. Well, they are on vacation, right?
St. Petersburg and Tampa are both ranked among the top 10 cities in the United States for Airbnb short-term rental listings, according to a recent report by ChamberofCommerce.org. These two cities in Florida have emerged as popular destinations for travelers seeking temporary accommodations.
As of May 5, St. Petersburg claimed the third spot overall, boasting a total of 3,379 Airbnb listings. This translates to approximately 1,275 listings per 100,000 people. Visitors to St. Petersburg can expect to pay an average daily rate of $231 for their Airbnb stays. On the other hand, Tampa secured the ninth position on the list, with a total of 3,434 Airbnb listings, or around 874 listings per 100,000 people. The average daily rate in Tampa stands at $185.
The report also highlighted the presence of other Florida cities on the list. Orlando claimed the fourth spot with 3,578 Airbnb listings, showcasing its popularity as a tourist destination. Jacksonville secured the 71st position with 1,471 listings, while Hialeah ranked at No. 153 with 103 listings. Should we warn other St. Petersburg and Tampa neighbors to get ready for the invasion?
Interestingly, Miami, secured the top spot for the most Airbnb short-term rental listings among all large cities. It boasts a staggering 6,962 listings, solidifying its reputation as a major tourist hotspot. It is worth noting that the report focused on municipalities with a population of more than 200,000, hence the absence of other Florida cities on the list.
In terms of pricing, Miami ranks 10th on the list of the most expensive cities for Airbnb rentals. Travelers visiting Miami can expect to pay an average daily rate of $290 for their Airbnb accommodations. However, there are other cities in the US that have even higher average daily rates, such as Oxnard, California ($488), Scottsdale, Arizona ($394). TBBJ
