In this version, players can build their own hotels on Tampa properties and aim for a monopoly. The game will showcase local businesses, nonprofits, and landmarks that define the essence of Tampa. And You can help!
Top Trumps USA is seeking suggestions to replace traditional squares like Boardwalk and Park Place. Some potential properties being considered are Raymond James Stadium, ZooTampa, Bayshore Boulevard, and Bern’s Steak House. The game will also feature custom Monopoly money, community chest, and chance cards with Tampa-themed content.
Monopoly has a long history, dating back to 1935. It was based on Elizabeth Magie’s Landlord’s Game, created in 1904 to promote the single tax theory. Since its inception, Monopoly has gained immense popularity worldwide, with over a billion players in 144 countries.
Top Trumps USA has previously released various regional versions of the game, featuring places like Palm Springs, Brooklyn, and San Antonio. To make the Tampa edition truly representative of the city, the company is inviting suggestions from the public and local institutions. You can submit your ideas for the Tampa board to tampa@toptrumps.com.
Once the game is launched, it will be available for purchase at partnered retailers, including Amazon, CVS, and select Tampa stores. Game pieces should include Gasparilla Pirates, Paddleboards, and Boats, don’t you think? LOL.
According to Top Trumps representative Brooke Gorman, the aim is to create an accurate portrayal of Tampa’s unique community and rich history with Monopoly: Tampa Edition. Get ready to experience the charm of Tampa in this exciting new version of the game! TBT
