Malcolm In The Middle Racing At Daytona
Malcolm In The Middle racing at Daytona. Frankie Muniz, the former child star of the hit TV show “Malcolm in the Middle,” has taken on a new challenge – pro stock car racing. After asking himself the question that every parent inevitably ponders, “What will my child think of me?”, Muniz realized that he wanted his son to see him striving for a dream or reaching for a goal. And so, he decided to revisit the one piece of unfinished business that still bugged him deep down: auto racing.
Despite hearing criticism and assumptions that his new venture into racing is just a hobby, Muniz is determined to win. As a kid, Muniz had a love for motorsports, waking up early on weekends to watch Formula One and NASCAR. He went from his home in Raleigh to NASCAR races in Charlotte and met Dale Earnhardt Sr. before the 2001 Daytona 500 that claimed his life. He later won a pro/celebrity race at Long Beach in 2005, which Muniz describes as the greatest feeling he ever had, sparking his passion for racing.
Muniz went on to race in the Formula BMW USA Championship before advancing to the Atlantic Championship. He thought he was poised to get a ride in the prestigious IndyCar Series in 2010, but a bad wreck derailed those plans, leaving him with a broken back and pins in his wrist. Muniz then turned his attention back to acting, joined a rock band, bought an olive oil shop, and got married. But the itch to race never disappeared, and the birth of his son pushed it back into the forefront, ultimately leading him back behind the wheel.
Now at the age of 37, Muniz is a full-time rookie in the ARCA Series and is racing in his first pro stock car race this weekend at Daytona International Speedway. Muniz is determined to make it to the level he desires at a quicker pace than most people do, all while accepting acting gigs only if they can fit around his ARCA schedule. He hopes that eventually, his connections in the business and racing world will help him become a NASCAR team owner.
Muniz is all-in on racing, and his dedication shows. During the ARCA 200 practice session, his No. 30 Rette Jones Racing Ford turned the quickest lap among the 33 cars that participated. Muniz is excited about the opportunity in front of him, as if he is still trying to convince himself that he’s about to race on one of the most iconic tracks in the world. Muniz is ready to prove it not only to himself but also for his family and the amount of time they’re dedicating to this on and off the track.
Frankie Muniz has taken on a new challenge, which shows that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams. Despite his successful acting career, Muniz’s love for racing never disappeared, and he’s now pursuing it with the same dedication and passion he showed in his acting career. We wish him all the best for his future endeavors in the racing world. TBT
