Stamkos is the 47th player in NHL history to score 500 goals. There are only 3 players currently playing in the NHL that have 500 goals scored: Stamkos the Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin and the Penguins’ Sidney Crosby.
Even though his goal came on the road in Vancouver the crowd gave Stamkos a standing ovation. “That was pretty amazing,” Stamkos said of the crowd’s reaction. “That’s something as a player that sticks with you for a long time when you’re on the road and you get that type of reception.”
Stamkos was the first overall selection by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2008 NHL Draft and has spent his entire career with the Bolts.
