Love the beach. Don’t you? As a volunteer, I do a Beach Conditions report every day for Mote Marine. Saturday and Sunday we saw an increase in the bloom along Redington, Indian Shores Beaches. I decided to take a 10 mile ride north to check a few other locations. How bad is it? And, for how long? You can check reports daily HERE too.
Yesterday, conditions at Indian Shores were terrible. All the water was dark brown, and the smell and lung irritation not good. You can see by this pic, no one is on the beach.

Moving North I checked Indian Rocks Beach. Better, but still bad. Saw a few people on the beach. Not sure how they can stand it.

Decided to find out where it ends. Well, for now. So headed up to Sand Key Beach in Clearwater. The parking lot was full, and the beaches clear. No smell. No dark water. No dead fish. Not yet.
Didn’t need to walk all the way to the beach to see the crowd of umbrellas and beach tents. It’s packed at Sand Key.

Some weather experts here in Tampa Bay say the shifting winds will push more Red Tide and Dead Fish to our shores, even as conditions improve in Tamp Bay.
Took the pic below this morning at Indian Shores Beach. Worse than yesterday. For now, Go North my friends! You can check Mote Marine Beach Conditions HERE.
Stay safe.
