Best “Pizza State” Is New Jersey?
Don’t get mad at me. Food and Wine Magazine put out a top 10 “best pizza states” and they said it. There was a place on Long Beach Island that had some killer thin pizzas back in the day. Yep, the Jersey Shore. We’d order 3 large for the families and cousins, and one extra for cousin Mike. He was in training.
I love the thin at New York Pizza in Tampa, and Gigi’s on Treasure Island ain’t too bad either. Let’s be honest, I never met a pizza I didn’t love. When I’m all out “hangry” it’s thick crust, otherwise thin is always in with me. It’s pretty hard to screw up a pizza, isn’t it?
If I had to pick a fave, it’s gotta be the thin at Slice, over at Indian Rocks Beach. (they have one near Madeira too).
As for the “states” that create the slices of heaven, I even like California Pizza’s Pineapple. So. That’s why I don’t have many friends. And I’ve had a pizza in Alaska “Moose’s Tooth in Anchorage” that Nana would say is “so good it’ll make your tongue beat your brains out”. These guys say it’s better in Juneau. I don’t think so. Let’s order a pie and discuss, shall we?
