Florida Strawberry Festival Foods Featured On Carnival Eats
Plant City was in the national TV spotlight Sunday night as Carnival Eats featured some segments they shot at 2018’s Florida Strawberry Festival. Strawberries found their way into sandwiches and tacos. And of course there were some deep fried treats too.
Here are the Florida Strawberry Festival foods that were featured!
Sunday night’s episode featured the Sweet Brisket Taco sold by Plant City’s own Johnson Barbeque. Carnival Eats Host Noah Cappe raved about the strawberry pico de gallo with brisket combo saying “The sweetness pairs really nicely with the beefy taste.” I tried their strawberry tacos. Gotta admit, this one didn’t sound appetizing on paper, but it somehow worked.
The show also featured a stop at Mama Jane’s truck. For those four of you left who haven’t heard me rave about her creation Funnel Bacon on a Stick, she whips up something new every year just for the Florida Strawberry Festival.
Mama Jane has been on Carnival Eats a few times so this time she let one of her favorite employees get some camera time. 12 year old Delaney did a great job frying up some strawberry cheese bursts. This was of my favorite creations Mama Jane dreamed up for the 2017 Strawberry Festival. Noah gave out honor roll grades… “In the class of culinary arts, Delaney got an A+.”

Next The Florida Sunset was featured. Imagine a Bloomin’ Onion on steroids. Sweet potato fries and onions… this deep fried monster looked fantastic. I must have missed this one at the Festival. I’ll have to keep an eye out for it next year.

The Spicy Strawberry Stack was the big finale… I must’ve missed this one too. It’s an enormous grilled sandwich with cream cheese, strawberries, jalapenos, cheese, and bacon. This is on my to do list already for next year as well.
If you missed the airing tonight, keep an eye out to DVR a repeat. Sunday’s night’s episode was Season 6 Episode 3. Repeats will air August 9 & 10 and August 19 & 20 on the Cooking Channel.
