Pawn Stars TV Star Has Passed
Sad news to start off the week. If you’re a fan of the cable TV show Pawn Stars, I’m sorry to pass along the news that “Old Man” has died. Richard Harrison was 77. A Navy veteran, he moved to Las Vegas to open his pawn shop in the 80s. TMZ reports he was surrounded by “those he loved,” according to his son Rick. Rick tells TMZ “He was my hero and I was fortunate to get a very cool ‘Old Man’ as my dad.”
Busted! The Old Man came in early today to grab a donut from @PawnDonutCoffee @pawnplaza & wouldn't share! pic.twitter.com/F692BoGrqX

When we were in Vegas to cover the ACMs, I’d hoped to meet “Old Man.” His son Rick walked by our QYK broadcast table, but honestly, it was Old Man I wanted to meet. I don’t know if his health is why he didn’t join his son, but I was disappointed I didn’t get to shake the man’s hand. He was the voice of reason on the show. He’ll be missed for sure. On my trip to Vegas last year, I snapped this pic at the shop.
