Guess Which State Wants To Tax Text Messages
You know how some cell phone companies tack on all those extra fees and taxes on your monthly bill? Well soon there could be another one. Californians may soon pay taxes on EVERY TEXT!
ABC reports that Californians may soon pay taxes on text messages! Cell companies are fighting it, but the California Public Utilities Commission is going to vote on it in a few weeks. If it passes, they think it’ll raise $44 million in tax revenue, which they are saying would be used to help provide phone service to the poor.
So glad I live in Florida… everything is already way more expensive in California. Real estate is insane. Gas costs a dollar or two more than we pay. Restaurants, concerts, groceries… everything is more expensive. So I’m sure they’re loving this news!
