Pasco County Sheriff’s Office Warns Residents About Phone Scam
If you get a call from 877-353-3958, hang up. The caller ID might say Duke Energy, but it’s a scam. The crooks are fooling people into thinking they owe hundreds. They say if you don’t pay up, your power will be turned off. The tip off should be that they are asking you to go to CVS, 7-11 or Dollar General to get an express payment card or a Money Pak for utilities. Obviously Duke Energy doesn’t do business this way.
