The sign at Texas Cattle Company now reads "Closed - Thank you for 32 years." It's been a fixture on 34 Street in St Petersburg for decades, but sales had been declining according to TampaBay.com. It was one of those places you take the 5 pound steak challenge or get a free meal on your birthday. But facing competition from big chains seemed to do a number on Texas Cattle Company. It has closed its only Tampa Bay location but its catering business will continue. This leaves one restaurant left in Lakeland.
