What Happened To Wahlburgers Coming To Tampa Bay?
You know how you get those “On This Day” messages on Facebook when you posted something a year or two ago? A year ago I posted the news that Wahlburgers is coming to Tampa Bay.
The chain is owned by brothers (Marky) Mark, (New Kids on the Block’s) Donnie and Chef Paul Wahlberg. A reality TV show on A&E chronicled the growth of the upstart franchise.
In October 2015, the account @WahlTampa was created on Twitter. But a year and a half later, there’s still never been a tweet.
In June of 2016, the Tampa Bay Business Journal reported that the chain had narrowed its choices for a location down to two spots – South Tampa or 4th Street in St. Pete. In the article, a spokesperson for the restaurant said they would need 5-6,000 square feet to work with and that the restaurant could open in 2017.
On Twitter, I asked which location you’d prefer? South Tampa was a slight favorite.

But since then, silence. Zilch. Nothing. Nada.
An Orlando location has been open for over a year, but the wait for a Tampa Bay location continues. I reached out to the company for an update. I’ll let you know if I hear back.
