The “Wagon Wheel” singer has hit the $1 million mark in fundraising for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Darius reached the milestone with his 8th Annual Darius & Friends benefit concert, which consists of a silent auction, golf tournament, and concert in Nashville. All told, this year’s event raked in $402,000, breaking 2016’s record and bringing the cumulative total to $1.2 million.

“You can’t help but be moved by the amazing work that St. Jude does,” Darius says through his publicist. “To raise this kind of money and awareness for them, for the families that rely on St. Jude, it’s just incredible. I’m so grateful to all our friends who came out and donated their time to be on the show – and Brooks & Dunn for surprising me onstage! Just wow!”
Joining Brooks & Dunn on the night were artists including Dan + Shay, Luke Combs, Michael Ray, John Oates of Hall & Oates and KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer. The event took place at the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville Monday (6/5).
St. Jude is a pediatric treatment and research facility focused on children’s catastrophic diseases. Families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food. The hospital is largely credited for raising survival rates for childhood cancer from 20% when founded in 1962 to more than 80% today. Learn more and support the cause here.
