Darius Rucker started as the front man for the Grammy winning band Hootie and the Blowfish, but then decided to make a career change to the country format and has done very well, racking up 9 number one songs since 2008.  Here is a list of his first 5 number one songs.

  • Don't Think I Don't Think About It

This song was released in May 2008 as Rucker’s first single from his album Learn to Live. The was Ruckers first number one song on the country charts.

  • It Won't Be Like This For Long

Darius’s second number one song was released in November 2008 from his album Learn to Live. Rucker co-wrote the song with Chris DuBois and Ashley Gorley, who both have daughters.  Darius said this is his favorite song on the album about how fast families grow up. That first week after the baby is born is awful: you’re up all the time. Then when it’s not like that, you miss those times

  • Alright

The 3rd number one single from Darius is about not needing big crazy things.  It’s not those things that make you happy and it sometimes take awhile to get there.

  • The Come Back Song

Darius’s 4th number one song is one he wrote with Chris Stapleton.  In this song, Rucker admits all of his faults and his stupidity in his relationships and begs his former girl to come back.  This came from the Charleston, SC 1966 album.

  • This

Darius’s 5th number one song is “This” he wrote with American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi.  The song is about how choices made in the past can result in life’s path taking a different route
