Tampa Bay’s Hometown Morning Krewe

Chris Stapleton brings his tour to Tampa this week. Here are 5 Chris Stapleton songs you will hear in Tampa Friday night. The show is at the Mid-Florida Credit Union Amphitheater. Grace Potter and Nikki Lane are his openers in Tampa.

If you’ve never been to a Stapleton show before, you are in for a super fun night. His shows are amazing. Full of cool lights, fire and lasers. I haven’t seen Chris do a lot of video in his tours, but I mostly see him coordinate songs to laser lights and different effects. It’s a show that you are definitely going to enjoy, no matter where you are sitting.

Tickets

Tickets are still available for this show, but not many are left. I’ve seen seats on LiveNation.com for over $1,000 a piece in section 6 all the way to lawn seats for $150.00. These tickets are one of the more expensive shows we have this year. Usually you can get into the lawn for a lot cheaper then that, but not for this show.

Live Nation is celebrating concert week this week, however, Chris Stapleton isn’t on the list for discounted tickets this year. You can however, get tickets as low as $25 this week. Click HERE for more information on that.

Stapleton moved to Nashville after graduation to pursue an engineering degree from Vanderbilt, but dropped out to pursue his career in music.

Awards

Stapleton has written and co-written over 170 songs including six number-one country songs, Kenny Chesney’s number-one “Never Wanted Nothing More”, Josh Turner’s “Your Man”, George Strait’s “Love’s Gonna Make It Alright”, and Luke Bryan’s “Drink a Beer”.

Stapleton has 10 Grammy Awards, 11 ACM’s and 15 CMS’s. He was named the ACM’s Artist-Songwriter of the Decade in 2023. Rolling Stone ranked Stapleton at number 170 on its list of the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time.

  • 1. White Horse

Chris Stapleton will open up the show with this song. It’s a song he co-wrote with Dan Wilson for the movie Long Ranger. You can find this song on the Higher album that came out in 2023.

  • 2. Parachute

This song is from the Traveller album, it came out in 2015.  Chris said that he woke up from a dream one night with the lyrics.  He took this song into a writing session the next day and wrote the song with his friend Jim Beavers.   This song will be played in the beginning of his set. https://youtu.be/F0Ga_nPZuiI?si=cBr-PcTjM-0NOaTv

  • 3. You Should Probably Leave

This song will be played in the middle of his set, so there is still half of the show to go when you hear this song.  This song came out in 2020 and can be found on the Starting Over album.  The song a Grammy for Best Country Solo Performance at the Grammy Awards show in 2022.   Starting Over earned Best Country Album. https://youtu.be/1xIKhlwFEd0?si=YGxycouUcONJcvHO

  • 4. Broken Halos

This song is one of the last songs that Chris will sing on stage.  Chris Stapleton sang this song alongside his wife Morgane for the first time on December 13, 2016 during Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountains Rise: A Benefit for the My People Fund telethon.   This song won both Single of the Year and Song of the Year at the 2018 Country Music Association Awards. Stapleton also took home the trophy for Male Vocalist of the Year for the third year in a row. https://youtu.be/sI0TeFf6uD8?si=cBLQ_y_S5LbtESlx

  • 5. Tennessee Whiskey

This is the last song that Chris will sing at his show.  Of course he saves the best and biggest hit for last.  Chris Stapleton recorded this cover for his debut solo album, Traveller, in 2015.  Chris and Justin Timberlake sang a medley of this song as well as Timberlake’s “Drink You Away” at the 2015 CMAs. It proved to be a breakthrough night for Stapleton as he won the CMA trophies for Male Vocalist of the Year, New Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for Traveller.  The interest generated from his performance resulted in “Tennessee Whiskey” ranking as the second-largest selling digital song the following week, with 131,000 downloads sold.
