Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Set To Join Marvel ‘Echo’ Series: Report
Late last year, fans of Marvel’s now-canceled Netflix series were delighted when two characters from those shows appeared in the MCU. First, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk — aka the Kingpin — appeared in the Hawkeye series on Disney+. And right after that, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock made a brief cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home; while he appeared in his civilian identity and not in costume as Daredevil, there was a tell-tale sign that he has the radar senses of his alter ego.
In the Daredevil Netflix series, Murdock and Fisk were arch-enemies, and it looks like they may clash again, in the upcoming Disney+ series, Echo, according to The Hollywood Reporter. They note that Marvel has no comment on the matter. Echo, alias Maya Lopez, played by Alaqua Cox, was introduced in the Hawkeye series. Per Disney +, Echo will follow Maya Lopez, as her life in New York as a gang leader catches up with her and she returns to her hometown to reconnect with her Native American roots. She battled the Kingpin in the Hawkeye finale after learning he was responsible for the death of her uncle.
Another rumor about the series is that Murdock will be searching for his former Defenders ally, Jessica Jones (played by Krysten Ritter in two seasons of Jessica Jones and one season of The Defenders). Yet another rumor has Cox/Murdock guesting in the upcoming Disney+ series, She-Hulk, Attorney At Law. She-Hulk’s alter-ego, Jennifer Walters (played by Tatiana Maslany), like Matt Murdock, is a lawyer (per the show’s title). That show premieres on Disney+ on August 17; Echo does not yet have a start date.
