3 Big Reasons Tom Brady Chose Tampa Over Chicago
During the Bucs’ impressive 33 to 16 beatdown on the Philadelphia Eagles, Tom Brady opened up about his decision to come to Tampa Bay to play for the Buccaneers. Turns out Chicago was in contention when he left the Patriots. Brady said the Bears were flying under the radar and had potential. Money was a big factor, but there were 3 other reasons Tom Brady shared today why he chose Tampa Bay over Chicago.
Weather
Kind of a no-brainer right? Most transplants will tell you the obvious #1 reason they moved to Florida was because of the weather. But one thing Tom Brady said he didn’t think about when he made the decision was how playing in Florida would be the complete opposite of his years playing in New England.
Brady talked about how in New England when he played for the Patriots, the weather was great to start early in the season. As the year went on though, as temperatures dropped, it just got harder. But in Tampa, the most challenging weather to play in was at the start of the season. So you’d get those tough games in the extreme heat out of the way early. By the end of the season, conditions were great when the playoffs got closer.
The People
No, sorry, Tom wasn’t talking about A Florida Man. He gave many shout outs to former Coach Bruce Arians. He said the Bucs personnel was a key factor in why he chose Tampa Bay over Chicago. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin both got their props from TB12.
Family
In the broadcast today, Tom Brady said moving to Tampa Bay was best so he could be close to his family. Tom remarked many times during his time here of how much more he enjoyed living in the Sunshine State. But after living in cold, dreary Boston, well, duh. I made the same decision 12 years ago and never looked back either.
With the dominant win over the Eagles today along with the Falcons win over the Saints, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take sole possession of first place in the NFC South. They won’t have to wait long to see if they’ll hold on to that spot. The Bucs play the Falcons Thursday night.
