Goody Goody Closing South Tampa Location
Almost 100 years ago, Goody Goody Famous Hamburgers opened on Grand Central Avenue in Tampa. Sadly, the old-fashioned burger joint won’t make it to 100. Tonight, Richard Gonzmart announced on social media that Goody Goody will close it’s Hyde Park Village location next week. The 1905 Family of Restaurants has chosen not to renew its lease in Hyde Park Village.
For now, you can still visit during special new hours of 9AM to 6:30PM. Be aware though that the menu is “limited” according to their Facebook page. Goody Goody is located at 1601 W Swann Ave in Tampa.
Southern Living called Goody Goody “Florida’s best breakfast spot.” Besides breakfast, Goody Goody specialized in burgers and their legendary pies.
The restaurant will close its doors September 29, 2024. Gonzmart said in a statement: “Sometimes we must make business decisions with our head as well as with our heart.” He vows that his company will continue with their charity work with his other brands.
Gonzmart said the restaurant holds a special place in his heart. His mother held Women’s Club meetings at the original Goody Goody location in Tampa. He says he fondly recalls picking up a sack of P.O.X. burgers for the family.
A bit of good news for Goody Goody fans
The Goody Goody location at Tampa International Airport will remain open in Airside C. For fans of the butterscotch pie, you’ll be able to enjoy a slice at Colombia Cafe on the Tampa Riverwalk at the Tampa Bay History Center.
Fans of the restaurant shared their sorrow on Goody Goody’s Facebook page tonight. If you’re planning one last visit to get one of those slices of butterscotch pie, you can reach Goody Goody at (813) 308-1925 or their email address is [email protected].
