Reba Jokes Her Fellow ‘Voice’ Coaches Are ‘Mean’
Reba will officially take Blake Shelton’s chair on The Voice when Season 24 of the show premieres on Monday (9/25). The Voice has been doing a lot of promoting of Reba taking a chair on the Emmy-winning show.
In the latest promo, Reba, Gwen Stefani, John Legend, and Niall Horan are all sitting in a circle, and Reba asks, “I am supposed to like you all, be mean to you, is there something I should know to let me win?” They all laugh, and John says, “We want to beat each other.”
Later in the promo, Reba tells the camera, “The blind auditions were so much harder than I thought they were gonna be. They block you, and it’s just so devious! But a lot of fun, too.”
In another clip, she says that the coaches are “just as sweet and kind offstage as they can be.” Then she adds jokingly, “When they come on this stage, though, they kinda change their personality. They’re really mean. Especially Gwen.”
Nail asks the group, “Who do you want to best more badly?” Reba says without hesitation, “All three of you.”

McEntire replaces Blake Shelton on Season 24 of NBC’s The Voice. Reba mentored Blake Shelton’s team during Season 23, causing some to speculate that she might become a coach. Other Season 24 Voice coaches are Niall Horan, Gwen Stefani, and John Legend.
Walking The Voice red carpet that same night in May, Reba talked about her new position to People, “The country lane — I’m taking over for Blake, so I’m gonna represent country music. He’s got big boots. I don’t know what size those boots are, but they’re big, so I’m gonna really work hard to make him proud.”
McEntire knows she has some real competition from Shelton’s wife, Gwen Stefani, who will also compete as a Coach in Season 24. She said that she “understood” that she needed to go “razzle-dazzle” with Gwen being on there. She said, “Gwen’s always got the nicest outfits, so I really need to step up my game on that.”
